Arsenal 3-2 Southampton: Gunners rated and slated in Emirates thriller

A Danny-Welbeck inspired Arsenal came from behind to win a thrilling encounter with relegation-threatened Southampton which saw five goals and two red cards.

A sparcely populated Emirates watched the Gunners go a goal down when Shane Long skipped across an indecisive Shkodran Mustafi to poke home on 17 minutes.

But Arsene Wenger's heavily-rotated side were buoyed by the early opener and took just 11 minutes to level things up. A brilliant passing move culminated in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's sixth goal in seven games.

Then Welbeck, whose clever flick created the equaliser, fired Arsenal in front via a deflection off Maya Yoshida's leg in the 38th minute.
