Arsene Wenger's wait for a League Cup trophy as Arsenal manager will go on after Southampton sealed a deserve victory in Wednesday's quarter-final clash.
The Saints took an early lead when Jordy Clasie opened the scoring with his first goal for the club, drilling home past the Gunners' reserve goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
And Southampton doubled their lead in the first-half when Ryan Bertrand found the bottom corner from 18 yards after Sofiane Boufal had broken clear and picked out the England defender.
