It was a disappointing start to the Africa Cup of Nations for Mo Elneny as Egypt were beaten by Nigeria in their opening match in Garoua.
Our midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the Group D clash, but couldn’t do anything to stop Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho score the only goal of the game on the half-hour mark.
Nigeria dominated much of the match, with Taiwo Awoniyi going close with a header and Chidera Ejuke seeing two efforts saved.
Elneny and Egypt will next be in action on Saturday when they take on Guinea-Bissau at 7pm (UK time).
