WEST POINT, NY – The Army West Point softball team (8-20, 1-0 Patriot League) earned an 8-3 victory over Holy Cross (5-17, 0-1 Patriot League) in its Patriot League season opener. It was also the Black Knights first game back at the Army Softball Complex in 327 days.
Army escaped a bases loaded jam in the first inning without giving up a run. After the first two runners got aboard in the bottom half, freshmen sent her fourth home run to deep center field to put Army up 3-0 early.
The Crusaders would strike back in the top of the third when they plated two unearned runs with two outs.
