Feature Friday highlights the tremendous personal stories our coaches and cadet-athletes have to share on a weekly basis. The fire knife dance was originally a pre-war ritual in which the Samoan warriors would twirl the war knife, known as a nifo oti, to psyche up the warriors. Since that time, the dance has now become a way for many Samoans to show strength and pride in their heritage.
