Tampa, Fla. – The Army West Point softball (5-11, 0-0 PL) fell to the University of Southern Florida Bulls (10-10, 0-0 AAC). Army had four Cadet-athletes collect a hit.
How it Happened
USF starting pitcher Payton Dixon (5-3) pitched a complete game, a shutout, and went a full 7.0 innings. Dixon held Army to four hits and struck out nine.
The Black Knights and Bulls were scoreless through three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Marissa Trivelpiece hit a leadoff triple, putting a runner in scoring position. When Southern Florida struck first to out a run on the board, Alyssa Rano hit an RBI single sending Trivelpiece across the plate with one out.
