WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team (5-10, 1-1 PL) picked up its first Patriot League victory on Saturday afternoon in a 70-57 win over Holy Cross (3-12, 0-2 PL).
The first half was a defensive slugfest with neither side shooting particularly well. Army shot 34.6 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three. Holy Cross shot 34.8 percent from the field and 0-7 from deep.
Overcoming TJ Small and Abe Johnson's foul trouble and Josh Scovens going 0-7 from the field in the first half, the Black Knights managed to take a 23-19 lead into the break behind six points from Charlie Peterson.
