UA bounces back, collects initial win

FAYETTEVILLE -- Kiki Smith scored 22 points and the Arkansas women's basketball team defeated East Texas A&M 84-65 in front of an announced crowd of 12,267 on Friday at Walton Arena.

The annual Elementary Day crowd provided the second-largest home attendance in program history. The game began at 10:30 a.m. with students from dozens of local elementary schools on hand.

The Razorbacks (1-1), who lost to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason favorite Fairfield 81-67 in the season-opener Monday, avoided the second 0-2 start in program history. The win also snapped a seven-game losing streak that dated to last season.
