Two injuries hit ASU before practice begins

JONESBORO — One potential starter and one likely reserve won’t be with Arkansas State when it opens practice Thursday because of injuries that Coach Blake Anderson said might be career-ending.

Cornerback Jamaris Hart ruptured an Achilles tendon earlier this summer, and offensive lineman Jamal Fontenot is dealing with a “spinal cord condition,” Anderson said. Both players are done for this season, and Anderson said during his media day news conference Wednesday at the ASU Football Complex that both might have played their last downs for the Red Wolves.

Hart, who started three games last season, is expected to “move onto other things,” Anderson said.
