NEW ORLEANS — Arkansas State withstood the first offensive charge from Troy on Friday but couldn’t do the same on the second.
Troy used four three-pointers in an 18-4 run to take control in the third quarter Friday and upset the No. 1 seed Red Wolves in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals, 96-89 at Lakefront Arena.
The loss put fourth-seeded Troy in the Sun Belt final for the first time and ended ASU’s quest for its first Sun Belt tournament title. The Red Wolves (26-5) had lost in the final of the tournament the last two seasons.
