PARIS (8/8/24) – Arkansas State track and field alumna Camryn Newton-Smith began competition on Thursday with the first four events of the heptathlon 2024 Summer Olympics held at Stade de France in Paris.
The Australian concluded Day 1 of the heptathlon in 14th overall with 3,678 points after four disciplines. The event concludes Friday in the City of Lights, with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
Newton-Smith opened the day in the 100-meter hurdles, running 13.46, before moving up to eighth after the high jump with a clearance of 1.80m (5-10.75) to run her total score to 2,034.
