Hours after Arkansas State Coach Blake Anderson learned he was in need of a new offensive coordinator, he pledged to find one who believed in his philosophies.
“We’re going to stick with what we do,” Anderson said after a 47-28 loss to Louisiana Tech in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 19, the night he announced offensive coordinator Walt Bell was leaving for Maryland.
Less than a month later, it looks as though Anderson has found that fit.
ASU announced last week that Buster Faulkner would replace Bell as ASU’s offensive play-caller and quarterbacks coach. Although Anderson and Faulkner have not coached together previously
— and they had spoken just once prior to the interview process — there are similarities in their paths and philosophies.
