Arkansas State University Coach Blake Anderson warned Monday that South Alabama would be all that the Red Wolves could handle in the teams' regular-season finale in Mobile, Ala.
Anderson's premonition came true Friday when a go-ahead touchdown pass with 1:18 remaining lifted South Alabama to a 34-30 upset victory, giving the Jaguars (2-10, 1-7 Sun Belt) a victory in their final home game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
ASU (7-5, 5-3), which entered as an 11-point favorite, saw its four-game win streak snapped and now will wait for a bowl assignment when they are announced Dec. 8.
South Alabama redshirt freshman quarterback Desmond Trotter hit receiver Jalen Tolbert for a 26-yard touchdown pass -- their fourth connection of the night -- with 1:18 left, giving the Jaguars a four-point lead and putting an end to 13 consecutive ASU points.
