The tournament, hosted by the University of Iowa, features the region’s top tennis talent with student-athlete’s competing in both singles’ and doubles’ competition. Detlava is the first A-State tennis athlete to reach the main draw after going through qualifying rounds since Biljana Miloshevska did so in 2013.
The A-State senior began her day with a 4-6, 6-4 (10-8) victory over Iowa’s Danielle Bauers. She continued with her strong start to the afternoon by following with a straight set 6-2, 6-1 win over Wichita State’s Ting-Ya Hsu.
