ASU women break tie, dominate late

ARKANSAS STATE 94, TROY 80

Troy played Sun Belt Conference-leading Arkansas State even for the first 34 minutes of Saturday's game, but the Red Wolves controlled things when it mattered most in taking a 94-80 victory at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.

Troy (10-11, 5-7) and ASU (18-3, 12-0) were tied 71-71 with 5:56 left in the game, but the Red Wolves closed out the Trojans behind a 23-9 run.

Three-pointers by Aundrea Gamble and Jessica Flanery gave the Red Wolves an 84-74 lead with 2:17 left. A Khadija Brown-Haywood free throw gave ASU its largest lead at 89-74 nearly a minute later after layups from Gamble and Brown-Haywood.
