A cursory glance at Arkansas State's 2001 football season reveals little about the program's history. It was the final year of Joe Hollis' tenure as head coach, a stretch in which ASU went just 13-43, and all but two of the defeats came by double digits that season.
So perhaps Oct. 13, 2001 ,was a bright spot -- following an o-4 start, the Indians -- ASU's mascot would not become Red Wolves until 2008 -- held off Louisiana-Lafayette 26-20 at Cajun Field despite being outgained 380-229 and logging only 10 first downs to the Ragin' Cajuns' 21.
There's little recorded about the contest.
