ASU sues University of Miami over canceled football game

Arkansas State University filed a lawsuit against the University of Miami for breach of contract Friday afternoon.

The complaint, which ASU filed in Craighead County court and shared with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, involves the cancellation of Miami's Sept. 9, 2017, football game in Jonesboro due to Hurricane Irma.

The document states that the university is seeking $650,000 as well as "attorney's fees and costs" and "pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as allowed by law."

“It is unfortunate that we have reached this point, but Miami’s actions left us with no choice," ASU General Counsel Brad Phelps said in a statement.
