MANHATTAN, Kan. (9/17/17) – Competing in its 2017-18 season-opening tournament, the Arkansas State women’s golf team shot a first-round 306 Monday at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational to place it fourth among nine teams.
The Red Wolves were led by two players finishing the three-day tournament’s opening 18 holes among the top 15 players. Junior Beth Ann Compton and sophomore Grayson Gladden both carded a 75 to put them in a tie for 11th place.
A-State ended the first round just three strokes behind third-place North Texas and within seven of second-place Tulsa, while Kansas State leads the field with a 287.
