TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (11/8/24) – Arkansas State men's basketball pushed No. 2 Alabama to the brink on Friday night, but ultimately dropped a hard-fought 88-79 decision to the Crimson Tide inside Coleman Coliseum.
The Red Wolves (1-1) evened the contest at 70 with less than eight minutes remaining, but the Crimson Tide (2-0) fended off the upset bid with key buckets and free throws down the stretch. The 79 points scored by A-State is its most against a top-25 opponent since Dec. 19, 2017 (80 at No. 11 Wichita State).
Both squads shot 40 percent from the field on the night, and combined for 80 free-throw attempts.
