DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (4/15/19) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team opened play Monday at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, shooting a first-round 299 on the Arthur Hills Course at the LPGA International to put it in fifth place among 11 teams.
The Red Wolves were led by three players completing the three-day tournament’s initial round among the top-20 individual leaders, including sophomore Maria Jose Atristain Vega in a tie for 11th place.
A-State ended the day with a four-stroke lead over both Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State, which are tied for sixth place. The Red Wolves are also within four strokes of fourth-place South Alabama, while Texas State leads the field with a 290.
