FAYETTEVILLE — The last time Tony Vitello coached in Fayetteville, Matt Cronin was a freshman pitcher who had not yet carved his niche in Arkansas' bullpen.
On Friday, Vitello watched from the opposing dugout as Cronin did to Tennessee what he has done to a number of opponents in the past two seasons.
Cronin worked a perfect ninth inning to close out Arkansas' 11-9 victory over Vitello's Volunteers. It was the ninth save this season for Cronin, a junior who could challenge his single-season saves record of 14 that he set last season.
"We didn't say anything to him, but it looked like somebody said something to him that pissed him off with the way he was throwing that danged thing," Vitello said following the game.
