FAYETTEVILLE — With two outs in the second inning, Arkansas left hander Patrick Wicklander ran into trouble Saturday.
Wicklander, who retired the first five batters he faced, walked Stephen Lund in five pitches and hit Josh Bristyan with a 1-1 pitch to give Gonzaga two base runners in a scoreless game.
Arkansas pitching coach Matt Hobbs walked quickly to the mound to talk with Wicklander. He told him to get back to what had worked in the first inning, to make a pitch and get back to the dugout.
Shanks took a strike and a ball, then popped up to first baseman Cole Austin in foul ground to end the inning.
