When the forecast showed rain all day Monday last week, the Razorbacks baseball team was forced to change the format of the annual Fall World series. Traditionally a best of 5 game series, the Cardinal and White teams started a best of 3 game series last Tuesday.
Game 1: White 9, Cardinal 1
In game 1, freshman Patrick Wicklander looked phenomenal on the mound for Team Cardinal. Wicklander struck out 6 of the first 10 batters he faced, and finished with 8 strikeouts in 3+ innings. Once he came out, however, Team White’s bats proved too potent for Cardinal relievers, as Matt Goodheart, Casey Opitz, and Andrew Stanley combined for 6 hits and 7 RBI in the game.
