FAYETTEVILLE — The NCAA has allowed college baseball conferences the option of beginning extra innings with a runner on second base.
Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said SEC coaches aren't likely to utilize the optional rule.
"In the SEC, we won’t agree on that," Van Horn said. "We’re going to play regular baseball unless there’s a get-away time, maybe a commercial flight situation."
Major League Baseball announced this week it will begin extra innings with a runner on second, a rule that started last year during a season shortened by covid-19.
While Van Horn thinks the SEC won't be using the extra-innings rule, he said it could make for some interesting end-of-game situations.
