The unthinkable finally occurred on Tuesday night: Arkansas lost a midweek game.
It was bound to happen after winning 18 straight, but the No. 2 Razorbacks’ 14-13 loss to Missouri State in 10 innings at Baum-Walker Stadium was still a shock to fans’ systems.
After all, Arkansas had just moved up to No. 1 in the NCBWA poll and took a five-run lead into the ninth against a sub-.500 team. That should end in a win 99.9% of the time, but the Bears capitalized on numerous mistakes, forced extras and won it with a leadoff home run by Nick Rodriguez in the 10th.
