FAYETTEVILLE — Tommy Brasher, a former Arkansas linebacker and offensive lineman who enjoyed a long coaching career as an NFL assistant, died Monday at his home in Mercer Island, Wash., according to an obituary shared by his brother Phillip Brasher on Facebook.
The Arkansas athletics department had also been informed of Brasher’s death.
Brasher, who was 84, lettered for the Razorbacks from 1961-63. He followed the older Wayne “Thumper” Harris as El Dorado High School standouts to play linebacker for Arkansas coach Frank Broyles.
Harris became one of the greatest players in the Canadian Football League while Brasher found his calling in the NFL.
