BATON ROUGE, La. — If a visitor from Mars suddenly was dropped down in front of the West gate of LSU’s Tiger Stadium, he would conclude rather quickly that football is important to the people who live here.
The entrance to the stadium and all that surrounds it is befitting one of the great cathedrals of college football.
* Large monuments celebrating each of the school’s three national championships: 1958, 2003, 2007.
* Plaques representing each of the nine players from LSU who are members of the College Football Hall Fame. Quarterback Bert Jones, who will be inducted in December, is the latest to be so honored.
