Texas '95 percent' set on starting pitcher in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. — Texas is likely to start junior right-hander Nolan Kingham in its College World Series opener against Arkansas.

"He threw yesterday in the bullpen and he felt fine. He seemed like he would be ready to go," Texas coach David Pierce said Friday. "I would say 95 percent (sure he will start)."

Kingham (8-4, 4.34 ERA) was the losing pitcher last week at the NCAA Austin Super Regional when he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 2/3 innings against Tennessee Tech.

Kingham was the winning pitcher in the Longhorns' regional game against Texas A&M on June 2 when he allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits and a walk in 7 2/3.
