Oklahoma State created separation in the third quarter and fended off the Arkansas women’s basketball team as the Cowgirls won 70-56 on Friday at the Daytona Beach (Fla.) Classic.
The Razorbacks (4-4) trailed 33-31 at halftime but were outscored 21-9 in the third quarter. Arkansas pulled within 62-56 with 2:52 left in the game after trailing by 10 to 14 points for much the second half, but the Cowgirls closed with 8 unanswered points.
The final score matched the largest lead of the game for Oklahoma State (7-0).
“It hurts because I did think that we had it at halftime in a great spot,” Arkansas coach Mike Neighbors said on the Razorback Sports Network postgame radio show.
