Arkansas football doesn’t typically recruit the Midwest, but Sam Pittman and Co. ventured north to land their latest commitment from Kade Bush.
When he announced his pledge back on March 27, the three-star tight end became just the second player from Minnesota to choose the Razorbacks out of high school in at least 60-plus years.
It’s such an unusual recruiting territory for Arkansas that, during their visit to Fayetteville last month, Bush and his parents actually asked tight ends coach Morgan Turner how he popped up on his radar.
The credit apparently belongs to offensive line coach Eric Mateos, who had been recruiting Bush’s high school teammate, Owen Linder, for several months, and happened to notice the tight end lined up alongside the big offensive tackle on film.
