Former Arkansas basketball coach Stan Heath has been named head coach of the Lakeland Magic, the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
Heath, 52, has 13 seasons of college head coaching experience, including five at Arkansas where he was hired to replace Naismith Hall of Fame coach Nolan Richardson. Heath went 82-71 overall with the Razorbacks and coached Arkansas to the NCAA Tournament in his final two seasons - 2006 and 2007.
He was fired after consecutive losses to end the 2007 season - 77-56 to eventual national champion Florida in the SEC Tournament Championship Game and to 77-60 to Southern Cal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
