My second year on the WholeHogSports team was one I will certainly remember.
Had someone said this time last year Arkansas would hire John Calipari to be its men’s basketball coach, a 29-year-old former MLB player would join the football team as a freshman walk-on and Sam Pittman would coach a bowl game with a cane, I would have given them a funny look.
Yet here were on New Year’s Eve, and sure enough, all those events transpired. It was a crazy year in Arkansas athletics.
On a somber note, in 2024 we lost our beloved friend, coworker, and who I consider my journalism hero.
