FAYETTEVILLE — Senior quarterback Brandon Allen’s selection as the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Sportsman of the Year gets nods of approval from teammates, coaches and, of course, his father.
Allen will depart Arkansas as the Razorbacks’ all-time leader in touchdown passes, but what sets him apart is what he overcame to inscribe his name throughout Arkansas’ record book.
“He’s been dragged through the mud here at Arkansas, and he’s bounced back,” senior safety Rohan Gaines said. “He came back this season and never made an excuse, never pointed a finger at anybody else. He just did his thing, and he had his best year.
