A source with direct knowledge of the conversations tells Gridiron Now that officials at the University of Arkansas “convinced” the SEC and commissioner Greg Sankey to issue a statement Tuesday regarding a new state law that allows for the concealed carry of firearms on college campuses, including inside athletic venues.
University of Arkansas officials further believe Sankey’s statement was “critical in turning the tide” Tuesday, as an amendment to the new law that would exclude athletic venues advanced out of a house committee after previously stiff resistance.
