FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas might be without first baseman Brady Slavens when regional play begins Friday against the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
A semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, Slavens is “very, very questionable” for this weekend’s games, Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said Monday. Slavens was assisted off the field during the second inning of the team’s 11-2 victory over Georgia in its SEC Tournament opener last Wednesday after he turned his right ankle while stepping on first base to beat out a two-run single.
A team spokesman said last week that Slavens has a lateral ankle sprain and will need one to three weeks of recovery time.
