After playing like a legitimate tournament team for the entire month of February, Arkansas opened up March in pathetic fashion, getting blown out by last-place South Carolina.
Over the previous four weeks, Arkansas was 5-3 with wins over No. 12 Kentucky and No. 15 Missouri and its losses came in valiant efforts against teams ranked inside the top eight of the AP Poll.
The Hogs appeared on pace to coast to a tournament bid over the last three games of the season – arguably their lightest three game stretch of their entire conference schedule. Unfortunately, “coast” is exactly what Arkansas appeared to do in the first half versus the Gamecocks, which had won just one other SEC game this season.
