An annual convention of SEC leaders has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The SEC Spring Meetings have been scheduled for the final week of May in Destin, Fla., each year since 1985 and are attended by members of the league office, university chancellors, presidents and athletics directors, and head coaches of the league’s football and men’s and women’s basketball teams, among others.
The meetings have resulted in legislation changes for the conference, such as last year when league leaders voted to allow alcohol sales inside SEC venues for the first time. The SEC said it will explore alternate methods to hold its meetings this year.
