SEC baseball teams prohibited from using electronic devices on offense in 2025

FAYETTEVILLE — The Southeastern Conference is scaling back on the use of electronic signaling devices for the 2025 baseball season.

League athletics directors voted in November to prohibit teams from sending offensive signals via wrist devices worn by players. Teams were permitted to send offensive signals — like when to steal or when to hit and run — last season, eliminating the need for hand signals from coaches to players.

Now the use of electronic devices on offense is “strictly prohibited,” according to the SEC’s policy adopted Nov. 6. “A participant found to be using such a device on offense shall be ejected immediately.
