PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Three-hundred eighty days before Scotty Thurman hit the most impactful shot in Arkansas basketball history, another performance from the sharpshooter laid groundwork for the 1994 national championship.
During an 80-74 victory over St. John’s at the 1993 NCAA Tournament second round, Thurman scored 19 points to help Arkansas book a trip to the Sweet 16. It was the last time the Razorbacks and Red Storm met on the hardwood.
That will change Saturday. History is set to repeat itself 32 years later.
Arkansas (21-13) and St. John’s are scheduled to tip off Saturday at 1:40 p.
