FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long has resigned his post as chairman of the College Football Playoff's selection committee, according to multiple reports.
A message seeking comment on the decision was not immediately returned Tuesday. Long will reportedly remain on the 13-member committee next season.
Long's term on the committee is scheduled to expire in February 2018. He has served as its chairman since 2013.
As chairman, Long was the spokesman for the committee's weekly rankings. It created a hectic travel schedule for him between Fayetteville, Dallas and various other cities during football season.
Quoted by USA Today, Bill Hancock, executive director of College Football Playoff, said a new chairperson for the committee will be selected by the end of the month.
