Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, according to a report Sunday by the Charlotte Observer.
Citing sources, the Observer reported Petrino is one of three remaining candidates for the job, along with Charlotte interim head coach Tim Brewster and North Carolina State defensive coordinator Tony Gibson. The Observer reported a final decision is expected within 48 hours.
Petrino, 63, has 17 seasons of head coaching experience in college football, most recently at Missouri State in 2022. He resigned from that job to become an offensive coordinator at UNLV, then Texas A&M prior to the 2023 season.
