FAYETTEVILLE - The upset specialists could not quite pull another one Sunday.
The Arkansas women’s basketball team fell, 65-55, to No. 13 Mississippi State at Bud Walton Arena in front of a season-high 5,273 fans. The loss is only Arkansas’ second in its last five games against ranked opponents.
Despite the Razorbacks record (9-13, 4-5 in SEC), Arkansas had beaten ranked teams Texas A&M, Missouri and Tennessee in the month of January. The only loss against a ranked opponent was to Mississippi State when the teams first met in Starkville. It wasn’t close - 80-55.
Sunday was better as Arkansas forced 21 turnovers and kept Mississippi State (19-4, 6-3) to just 14 points in the paint.
