The Diamond Hogs are headed back to the College World Series for the first time since 2012 and for the fourth time under head coach Dave Van Horn.
The Hogs got off to a hot start by scoring three runs in the top of the first. After a Bobby Wernes single, Andrew Benintendi drew a walk to put two runners on for Tyler Spoon. With giant spoons waving in the air, Spoon singled through the left side scoring Wernes and moving Benintendi to third. Rick Nomura hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Benintendi. Brett McAfee capped off the scoring with a RBI single to left field, scoring Spoon.
