FAYETTEVILLE – A pair of Razorbacks who left early for their sport’s respective drafts earlier this month are both now officially former Hogs.
Centerfielder Andrew Benintendi was the No. 7 overall pick in the MLB First-Year Player Draft and signed with the Boston Red Sox for a reported $3.6 million. Benintendi is expected to join the Red Sox short-season team, the Lowell Spinners.
Former basketballer Michael Qualls, too, is set to join the Oklahoma City Thunder after the two agreed to a deal. Qualls was not drafted in last week’s NBA Draft, largely because of a torn ACL he suffered just about a week before while working out for the Phoenix Suns.
