Since starting the season with the AAA Red Sox, Jalen Beeks was called up for two appearances with Boston before being traded to Tampa Bay. After being roughed up in his first three big league outings, he has posted a 3-0 record and allowed only 8 runs in the last 24.1 innings (2.91 ERA) and struck out 22 batters. The Rays have experimented with a different philosophy on pitching rotation this season with their relief pitchers starting games, pitching one or two innings, and giving way to starting pitchers to pitch the bulk of the rest of the game.
