NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Things were headed toward SEC Tournament disaster for the Arkansas basketball team Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena.
After its lead over South Carolina had swelled to 54-34 early in the second half, the Razorbacks seemed to go into cruise control. The focus they had to build the lead was lost.
Cruise control is an ill-advised mode in college basketball’s best conference — especially in March. The disgruntled look on Arkansas coach John Calipari’s face from the sideline said it all.
“I just thought we got tentative and [were] trying to get out of the gym,” Calipari said.
