Yet another Penn State defender has opted out of Saturday’s Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla.
Defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo will not play against Arkansas and will begin preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday in a post to his Twitter account. Tangelo started all 12 games for the Nittany Lions in the regular season.
He is the sixth Penn State starter to opt out of the bowl game and fifth starter on defense, joining All-Americans Arnold Ebiketie and Jaquan Brisker, and All-Big Ten linebackers Ellis Brooks and Brandon Smith. Nittany Lions star receiver Jahan Dotson has also announced he will not play in the game.
