Junior college offensive lineman Deion Malone was a happy guy after Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and offensive line coach Sam Pittman offered him his first scholarship from an SEC school Tuesday during a visit to the school.
Malone, 6-5, 295 pounds, plays for Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Miss., and has accumulated 18 scholarship offers from schools that include East Carolina, Memphis, San Diego State and Tulane
"It was like a dream come true," said Malone, who attended Batesville Panola High School in Mississippi.
Malone has seen his stock rise recently.
"Two, three weeks ago I didn't have nothing," said Malone, who will take an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.
