When the pair posed for a photo last April, Darren McFadden probably had no idea Braylen Russell would challenge one of his many Arkansas football records.
After all, the four-star prospect out of Benton High was still on the market and being pursued by several big-time programs after backing off his pledge to the Razorbacks the previous fall.
However, Russell eventually followed in the G.O.A.T.’s footsteps by staying home and, a year and a half after that photo was taken, he ran for 175 yards on just 16 carries in Arkansas’ dominant 58-25 win at Mississippi State.
