Bri Ellis and the 13th-ranked Arkansas softball team’s scorching play of late resembled the weather Friday night in Gainesville, Fla.
Ellis hit a 3-run home run in the first inning to give the Razorbacks a lead they never gave up in a 4-1 victory over No. 2 Florida on a night in the high 80s at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium.
It was the highest-ranked opponent the Razorbacks have beaten under 10th-year coach Courtney Deifel.
Arkansas (27-7, 7-6 SEC) extended its winning streak to 5 games, and went above. 500 in SEC play for the first time.
